We arrived to see Dmitry today and was greeted by Anya, our official translator. She was designated as our representative for court day as she was responsible for our complete dossier translation back in August. All the translators we have worked with this trip have been fantastic. Anya has been doing this job the longest from them all and is excellent at her job. She is a great match for our personalities too and we get along really really well. We didn't have her earlier in the trip as she was responsible for another couple and preparing them for court. Anya says that the baby room where little D is has always been her favorite room there.
When we arrived to see little D, a bit earlier than usual, the ladies said that he was in the potty. "POTTY"? I asked, he is 14 months. They said 'yes' and Anya pointed to a room with the door open to go look. The ladies were smiling and say, here, here... I looked in and OMG, the cutest site you would ever see. There were about 5 little ones all around the same age, some even younger, sitting on their little potties, with their tights and bottoms at their ankles (which are only a few inches off the floor anyways). They were all giggling at me and were so funny. Little D was just getting dressed after his potty time. And of course, smiles right away. The ladies told us via Anya that as soon as the children are able to sit with stability, they are on the potty. WOW. They got a big "spaziba" from us. This potty training is worth its weight in gold. He likely won't nbe 100% trained in 3 months but close. WOW! The children start to cry and wake up in the middle of the night when they have to go. But they wear diapers all day and night for accidents. This is just amazing.
We had a wonderful time with little D in the play room. He knows us more and more each day. He is so cute that when he gets his hands on something, he will hold on to it for 1/2 an hour at least. Today it was mini packs of kleenex. I bought him some strawberry scented ones as he had a little runny nose yesterday. He is so good at having his nose wiped. But he insisted on holding the kleenex packet. It was a great day. Tears only fill my eyes when I think that tomorrow will be the last visit for this trip. But my heart is full of happiness knowing that we are one day closer to bring him home. (ok, subject change, where are my tissues... :)
We left with Anya for the Notory and it was about a 15 min walk. The officials designate only a certain number of Notaries for the Region. We were told that in order for a new Notary to be sworn in, the old one has to die. It is a very highly regarded position and hold quite a lot of power. The lady we had today was 74. One of the most elegant ladies I've seen in Russia. Anya calls her Queen Elizabeth. You know Chris and I, we like to be funny and figured it was the least appropriate place to be funny today. But we did. LOL. When the notory passed the calculator to Chris with the price for the notorization of the documents, he giggled and slid the calculator over to me. He made a gesture with his hand that I was the boss (or the Furher) if you know what I mean. I almost died. The lady said something and giggled. Pfew. I pulled out my Russian phrase book and I said "organized - me, nit organized - he". She said that she understood and told Anya that we are a special couple, she wishes us all the happiness in the world, and for Chris to take care of his family, especially me and little Dmitry. She said this with the most serious look and put her hand out to us. Then the tears came. Just a few. Anya told me to save them for tomorrow.
It was a great day and certainly an official day in this process. Tomorrow will be just as wonderful. xxoo
