Dmitry Scott Redmond

We had another wonderful visit with little D today. (Thursday) Today he had blue tights on and a boys hat. When we arrive, we go with our translator by the reception room where we obtain the key for the key for the family visit room. No receptionist there this morning so we used the big music room upstairs instead.

Little D was pretty much ready for us when we arrived in the baby room. This room is always really warm so they don't get chills. This is where they have activities with the workers, get fed and changed. This is why they insist on bundling them up when they leave this room, cause everywhere else isn't near as warm. Little D looked up at us when we arrived. A little smile, and then they brought him right over to me. I carried the little chunker down to the music room (this place is huge and like a maze). The time sure flies. A few minutes after we got there, we had our first experience of 'stinky poop'. lol. Chris and the translator took Little D into the baby room and the ladies changed him. We were told to have the fun times this trip then the next we can get dirty. lol. We actually bought 3 packs of diapers for little D and the other little ones. We had asked if there was anything they needed, and they said even if you can bring diapers for the days you are here, this would be amazing. Not sure if what we bought was expensive for diapers - just under 10$ US for a small pack of 20 pampers (the best ones there). We bought 3 packs for the others too. I'm thinking of stock piling for the next trip at costco or something.

After several hours of play time (in both the music room and the family room) we thought Dmitry was looking a little sleepy and hungry. We took him back for his nap and a feeding, and went on our way. It is getting harder to leave every day. Good news though is that we will have our appointment with the Notory early next week before we return to Moscow. Today we had to finalize our choice for his name so that his file for the Notory and Consulate could be opened. Dmitry Scott Redmond. Very fitting indeed. I honestly would likely have chosen Dmitry for him anyways as I loved it. Scott - after Chris's best buddy who we lost 3 years ago in Afghanistan. We only wish we could share our joy with him. He was truly one of the kindest, most thoughtful guys I have ever met in my life. He will always live on with us. And Redmond - I wanted to change my name 6 years ago but didn't get around to it. Will do this next year - Promise. So then there will be us three.

The sun was finally shining in Volograd City today. Took a walk along the Volograd River which runs all the way and past up towards our appartment. The main street which is parallel to the river actually is over 93 kms long. Even though they are saying that this is spring, it is really still winter.

Forecast for tomorrow says light snow. Any forecast that includes snow, is still winter. LOL.

Also something interesting that is quite close to us is a museum. This museum has many things from the 1943 Battle of Stelengrad (chris is sleeping so i am unable to confirm these historic facts). Hence our desire to watch the movie noted below. There is still one building in its original state that was not rebuilt after the battle. Intersting fact - after the area was captured by the Germans back in the day, and occupied, they were forced to rebuid the entire city.

Well, it is actually 1 am here in Volograd. Chris and I started to watch "Enemy at the Gate" at 5:50 and I didn't make it past 6 pm. So, yes, this kid is up... Jet lag is a beast. Talk soon...
